ABSTRACT
Performance Measurement is a critical activity in managing organizational functions. With the rapidly changing social and technology trends and emergence of knowledge-based and innovation-driven economy, performance measurement focus has to evolve and re-calibrate in order to stay relevant. In this paper, the researcher critically reviewed and discussed a few key issues/challenges facing performance measurement in relation to innovation and SME company growth performance, including, how to look at performance measurement in today's innovation context, how to balance multi-dimensionality of performance measurement in order to induce desired performance outcome/results, how to use TQM framework to manage and measure SME company performance, and how to shift from static yearly performance review exercise to dynamic trend-driven SME company performance measures to reflect the true nature of its sustainability of performance.
