ABSTRACT
The study is about the circumstances of African human development. Analogous to the quantitative research method, the linear regression procedure yielded meaningful statistical results to guide the analysis. It has been determined that the independent variables (economic and demographic factors) have impacted the dependent variable (human development). Drought as well as war/ civil unrest, as dummy variables, have also been part of the regression equation, and their impact on the dependent variable has been significant. As the theoretical framework, the study has utilized Rostow’s economic development model, as well as the multidimensional approach to development advanced by scholars such as Sen and Haynes. The study has shown the need for urgent policy intervention to ameliorate the weakening condition of human development in the region. The study, based on the statistical result of the trend variable, has also espoused the prediction that a favorable future is envisaged for the support and improvement of human development in the region.
