ABSTRACT

Business Digital Divide as a phenomenon describing major discrepancy in use of ICT between computer savvy corporations and SME's has been researched in a 12 years longitudinal study covering over 1000 SMEs in California. Final results indicate that closing of Business Digital Divide is a myth in spite of advances in Information Technology. At the same time a major shift in perceived barriers to implementation of ICT among SMEs has been identified from lack of funds to lack of knowledge and required stability of used business processes.
